Process for Becoming a Clinical Site for Duquesne University, Department of Physical Therapy
When a clinical site determines that it wishes to offer physical therapy students from Duquesne University an opportunity to affiliate in their facility the site can be reviewed by the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) or the Assistant Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education. To begin this process the site should determine who will serve as the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE). This person should review the responsibilities of the CCCE located on the APTA website. They should also review the APTA Guidelines for Clinical Education and Self Assessment (2004). The CCCE should also complete a clinical site information form (CSIF). These documents can be obtained from the APTA at www.apta.org . The completed CSIF is then mailed to the ACCE at Duquesne University along with a cover letter explaining the affiliation program. Once the CSIF is sent the CCCE may call the ACCE to follow-up and discuss the potential for mutually beneficial relationship. The ACCE will then visit the site and meet with the CCCE to determine whether the mission and goals of both entities are compatible. A contract process will be initiated after the site visit. Once the contract is in place the clinical site will be added to the database and reviewable by students.
