An integral part of the tradition of the Health Sciences at Duquesne University, we welcome students whose academic pursuit has lead them to discover all that our programs have to offer. Welcome to our school!

The process to transfer to Duquesne is a simple one if you follow these steps:


Deadlines:

For Physical Therapy, all applications must be received by May 1.

For Athletic Training, Health Management Systems, Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology, all applications must be received by July 1.

Due to capacity constraints we are not accepting transfer or second-degree applications to the Physicians Assistant program at this time for the fall of 2009. Please check back again in september of 2009 if you are interested in starting in the fall of 2010.


In order to apply for admission, the following items must be submitted:

  • An application for admission.
  • A transfer form.
  • An official high school transcript. For Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy applicants, Standardized Test Scores are also required (SAT or ACT).
  • Official transcripts of all previous college work.
  • A resume or curriculum vita.
  • A critical self-evaluation essay. Please see application for details.
  • A complete summary of all health care experience in the applicant's field of interest. Please see the application (page 2) for more details. Feel free to use our Experience Summary form.
  • An outline of the courses you plan to take during the Fall 07, Spring 08 and Summer 08 semesters (to the best of your knowledge).
  • The $50.00 application fee.
  • All RSHS students will be expected to perform certain physical, mental, and emotional tasks in order to complete graduation and professional requirements as measured by state and national certification, licensure and registration processes. Information about these performance indicators can be found here. This information is also available to students in the 2006-2008 RSHS Academic Student Handbook.
  • Applicants to the Speech-Language Pathology program who wish to be eligible for state teacher certification as a "Teacher of the Speech and Language Impaired" must include copies of syllabi from any prior education coursework.
  • Applicants to the Speech-Language Pathology program should submit documentation of any supervised observation and/or clinical hours that meet ASHA certification requirements.

The following grade averages are required for each program:

*3.0 GPA for Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Speech Language Pathology

*2.75 GPA for Health Management Systems, Athletic Training, and Occupational Therapy

Only classes with a "C" grade or higher may be considered for transfer.
