Welcome Second-Degree and Post-Baccalaureate Students!
An integral part of the tradition of the Health Sciences at Duquesne University, we welcome students whose academic pursuit has lead them to discover all that our programs have to offer.

Welcome to our school. The process to apply to Duquesne is a simple one if you follow these steps:

Deadlines:

For Physical Therapy, all applications must be received by May 1.

For Athletic Training, Health Management Systems, Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology, all applications must be received by July 1.


Due to capacity constraints we are not accepting transfer or second-degree applications to the Physicians Assistant program at this time for the fall of 2009. Please check back again in september of 2009 if you are interested in starting in the fall of 2010.


In order to apply for admission, the following items must be submitted:

  • An application for admission.

  • G.R.E. scores are required for Speech-Language Pathology applicants who already have a degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Speech Disorders. GRE scores are not required for any other program.

  • Official transcripts of all previous college work.

  • High School transcripts are required for all Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy applicants.

  • Three letters of recommendation.

  • A critical self-essay. Details may be found on the application.

  • The $50.00 application fee.

  • All RSHS students will be expected to perform certain physical, mental, and emotional tasks in order to complete graduation and professional requirements as measured by state and national certification, licensure and registration processes. Information about these performance indicators can be found here. This information is also available to students in the 2006-2008 RSHS Academic Student Handbook.

The following are required for each program:

  • Health Mangement Systems - 2.75 GPA

  • Occupational Therapy - 2.75 GPA. You must be CPR certified, and a minimum of 120 documented volunteer hours, 60 in a community setting providing services and 60 of volunteer OR paid experience in Occupational Therapy. Feel free to use our Experience Summary form. Pre-requisite courses must be completed prior to enrollment.

  • Physical Therapy - 3.0 GPA. A composite SAT I score of 1100 or a composite ACT score of 24. A minimum of 250 documented paid or volunteer hours at two separate physical therapy sites at the time of application. Feel free to use our Experience Summary form. Pre-requisite courses must be completed prior to enrollment.

  • Speech-Language Pathology - 3.0 GPA. Pre-requisite courses must be completed prior to enrollment.

Only classes with a "C" grade or higher may be considered for transfer.
