Degree
In order to prepare its graduates for a career
in today's healthcare environment, the Rangos
School of Health Sciences' Department of Health
Management Systems has created a new degree track
that trains aspiring physicians with a strong
foundation in science as well as with the necessary
skills in technology and business. Through a partnership
between the Department of Health Management Systems
and the Pre-Health Professions Program, students
will gain this critical combination of skills
at the undergraduate level.
Bachelor
of Science in Health Management Systems (BSHMS)
Degree Program
The Bachelor of Science
in Health Management Systems (BSHMS) degree program
with the RHIA option is accredited by the American
Health Information Management Association's Council
on Accreditation, in collaboration with the Commission
on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
(CAAHEP). Graduates are eligible for the national
certification examination to become a Registered
Health Information Administrator (RHIA). In addition,
graduates are employees in information technology,
consulting, hospitals, managed care and physician
practice positions.
The Master
of Health Management Systems Degree Program (MHMS)
The Master of Health Management Systems degree
program is a 36 credit program which can be taken
on a part-time or full-time basis. All courses
are offered in the evening to accommodate working
professionals. There are two joint Masters Degree programs - the MHMS/MBA for those desiring more of an administration focus, and the MHMS/Pre-Health Post Baccalaureate for those desiring to enter medical, dental, or veterinary school. |
