Professional Presentations:
Mark has presented over 20 posters and 3 presentations to the Association of Physician Assistant Programs (now PAEA) on a variety of topics related to student performance. In addition, he has presented to the American Academy of Physician Assistants on Autism (2006, 2001) and Hemophilia (1991). He has also presented on Autism to the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants (2004) as well as a variety of local organizations in the Pittsburgh area.


Awards and Accomplishments:
Mark was designated the official representative of the American Academy of Physician Assistants to the Surgeon General's Conference on Health Disparities and Mental Retardation, Washington, DC, December 2001, contributing to the Surgeon General's report “Closing the Gap: A National Blueprint to Improve the Health of Persons with Mental Retardation.”


Professional Narrative:
Mark Freeman has been a Physician Assistant since 1984, graduating from the Community College of Allegheny County PA program. He received a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Biology from Washington and Jefferson College in 1982, as well as a Master's degree in Adult Education from Penn State University in 1991. In addition, he earned an MBA (health systems administration track) from Waynesburg College in 2002. He is currently a PhD student in the Rehabilitation Sciences Program at Duquesne University.

Mark initially worked clinically as a PA in Hemophilia care and research. He later worked in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and ultimately worked in Neuropsychiatry and Developmental Disabilities.

He has been involved in Physician Assistant education since 1997 when he when he was initially appointed Clinical Coordinator for the Duquesne University Physician Assistant Program. He later worked as Chatham College from 1998-2006, where he was an Assistant Professor, Program Director, and Chair of the Health Sciences Division. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the South Western Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center, Inc. with an interest in encouraging health professions students to work in rural and underserved communities.

His current clinical interests continue to be in the area of neuropsychiatry, primarily autism and pervasive developmental disorders. He has given numerous presentations on these topics for health care providers and family members on a local and national level.
