Professional Narrative:
As a registered nurse, I have spent 25 years working in both clinical and managerial positions within the healthcare industry. I have a strong interest in studying evidence-based outcomes and have previously worked with the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative’s Cardiac Care Improvement Registry in analyzing best practice standards for Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery. I hold advanced Certification in Critical Care nursing and was the coordinator of an open heart surgery program for 9 years. I am a current member of the PA chapter of the American Cardiology Association and the American Association of Critical -Care Nurses.
In addition to my experience in the acute care setting, I am a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and have worked in Executive positions within Skilled Care, Assisted Living, and Hospice Care. During my tenure as Clinical Director of a National Assisted Living Association, I co-authored a Performance Improvement Manual adaptable to four states based on specific state regulations and guidelines.
I am also involved in clinical consulting with a medical device company and am currently working with the FDA to expand indications of use for a specialized circulatory support device. That involvement includes the establishment of a national data registry which allows the users to document patient outcomes on a web based platform.
