Professional Narrative:
Bridget Colleen Calhoun began her career at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 1992. Working in transplant surgery, she was involved in the pre-transplant evaluation as well as the post operative period. Additionally, she was involved in randomized clinical trials and other research projects. In 1996, she joined the faculty at Duquesne University and served as the Clinical Coordinator. Ms. Calhoun enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology and was awarded a Master of Public Health degree after completing original research, “Decreased Serum Leptin is Associated with the Onset of Lipoatrophy.” She was awarded a doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh Her dissertation was entitled "Body Habitus, Metabolic Abnormalities and Subclinical Athersclerosis Associated with Long-term Antoretroviral Therapy." In July 2002, she was appointed Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant. She continues to work clinically one day per week in an HIV/AIDS research project at the University of Pittsburgh.
