Professional Narrative:
Dr. Diane Borello-France is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at Duquesne University. Dr. Borello-France received her B.S. degree in physical therapy at the University of Pittsburgh in 1979. She received her M.S and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1985 and 1995, respectively. She worked as a physical therapist in inpatient rehabilitation for 10-years and subsequently for 6-years in an outpatient balance/vestibular disorders clinic. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Borello-France has participated in research activities as a practicing clinician and during pursuit of her doctoral degree in motor learning and motor control. Her previous research relates to stroke and vestibular rehabilitation. Dr. Borello-France's current research and clinical interests relate to areas of women's health, particularly urinary incontinence and female pelvic floor disorders. She was awarded an AREA grant from the National Institutes on Aging to study a functionally based approach to the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. She currently is a co-investigator on two National Institute of Health Networks, the Urinary Incontinence Treatment Network and the Pelvic Floor Disorders Network. She is also a Co-Investigator in a National Institutes of Health funded program investigating treatments for urologic dysfunction in persons with spinal cord injury and diseases.
